A/C COMPONENT REPLACEMENT IDENTIFICATION

APPLICABLE MODELS/VINS:
All 1994 - 95 MX-5 Miata vehicles with air conditioning.

DESCRIPTION

Two different types of condensers, receiver driers and # 2 pipes (see note) are used on the listed models. These components are not interchangeable. Use the following method and the application chart to identify the correct replacement components.

NOTE:
The # 2 pipe connects the receiver dryer to the smaller diameter pipe leading to the cooling unit called the "H" pipe.





IDENTIFICATION

Inspect the compressor mounting bracket material.

^ If the bracket is painted "black" the material is cast iron.
^ If the material is "silver" the material is aluminum.
^ If the material is not identifiable by color, use a magnet to determine cast iron from aluminum.
