Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection

TRANSMISSION RANGE (TR) SENSOR
- If TR sensor circuit has an open or short, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. PO7O7 or PO7O8 is output.
- If the vehicle is not in P (Park) or N (Neutral) during diagnostic trouble code check, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. P1705 is output.

INSPECTION
1. Make sure the TR sensor is properly aligned.
2. Hook Special Service Tool SST New Generation Star (NGS) tester to the data link connector, then access TR and TR-M PIDs.
3. Turn the ignition key ON.
4. Monitor each PID voltage as the selector lever is moved through all gear ranges.

5. If the PI D voltages are not within specification, inspect TR sensor resistance with SST (AT tester: 49-UNO1-071).
