Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection

- Refer to "Replacement" for removal of the transmission fluid temperature sensor.




- Place the transmission fluid temperature sensor in ATF with a thermometer as shown, and heat the ATF gradually.




- Measure resistance between the terminals of the transmission fluid temperature sensor.
- If not correct, replace the transmission fluid temperature sensor.
- Refer to "Replacement" for installation of the transmission fluid temperature sensor.

REPLACEMENT
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- On level ground, jack up the vehicle and support it evenly on safety stands.
- Disconnect the transmission fluid temperature sensor connector.
- Remove the transmission fluid temperature sensor.
- Install the new transmission fluid temperature sensor.

Tightening torque: 7.9 - 10.7 Nm (70 - 95.4 in. lbs.)

- Connect the transmission fluid temperature sensor connector.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
