Vehicle Speed Sensor: Testing and Inspection


VEHICLE SPEEDOMETER SENSOR
Inspection
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the battery, rear intercooler air duct, and air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove the starter.
4. Disconnect vehicle speedometer sensor connector.




5. Remove the vehicle speedometer sensor.

NOTE: Vehicle speedometer sensor is a kind of generator of alternating current. Therefore, a general circuit tester of direct current cannot follow if the vehicle speed is fast. (If using a circuit tester of alternating current, voltage will increase as the vehicle speed is increasing.)








6. Measure the voltage between the terminals of the vehicle speedometer sensor while rotating the driven gear.
7. Install the vehicle speedometer sensor.

Tightening torque: 7.9-10.7 Nm (70-95 in.lb.)

8. Connect the vehicle speedometer sensor connector.
9. Install the air cleaner assembly, rear intercooler air duct, and battery.
10. Connect the negative battery cable.
