Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Front Door Window Regulator: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

NOTE
^ When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

2. Remove door trim panel and watershield.
3. Disconnect connector from motor.
4. Locate two of the three motor and drive mounting screws, visible through existing holes.
5. Locate dimple in inner door panel, covering the third mounting screw. Drill a 1/2-inch hole to access third screw. Use care not to drill into door wiring.
6. Remove motor and drive from regulator, three retaining screws.
7. Install new motor and drive assembly to regulator. Tighten motor retaining screws to 5.6 - 9.6 N.m (0.55 Kgf.m - 0.97 Kgf.m, 50 - 84 in-lb).
8. Check window operation.

NOTE
^ Make sure door drain holes are open.
^ Cover drilled hole with pressure sensitive tape.

9. Install watershield and trim panel.
