Preliminary checks.
1. Check fuses for continuity; check connections for clean, tight fit; check for loose or damaged wires.
2. Do components and wiring check OK?
Step 2
On-demand self test.
1. Connect NGS Tester 49 T088 0A0 to data link connector (DLC). Retrieve continuous DTCs. Perform on-demand self test.
2. Are any DTCs present?
Step 3
Check R circuit.
1. Check for open in R power feed to hi/lo relay. Check for loose connectors and damaged wiring.
2. Is circuit OK?
Step 4
Check hi/lo relay.
1. Disconnect hi/lo relay, then check relay coil for open between terminals 1 and 2.
2. Is relay OK?
Step 5
Check DL/O circuit.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Check for open in DL/O between hi/lo relay and wiper motor high speed connection.
3. Is the circuit OK?
Step 6
Functional test.
NOTE
^ Some abnormal drive symptoms may occur after the battery has been disconnected and reconnected. The vehicle may have to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to allow the PCM to relearn the adaptive strategy.
1. Reconnect battery.
2. Run wiper control functional test.
3. Energize run/park relay, then energize hi/lo relay.
4. Does windshield wiper motor run at high speed?
