Camshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection


1. Remove the distributor.
2. Disconnect the fuel injector connector.
3. Connect the distributor 6-pin connector.

WARNING:
- Turning the ignition switch ON with the fuel injector connector still connected will actuate the fuel injector.
- Turning the Ignition switch ON with the distributor 3-pin connector still connected will generate sparks, which can cause electrical shock. Disconnect the connector and avoid it from grounding to the vehicle body.

4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.




5. Rotate the distributor drive by hand and check the output signal.
6. If not as specified, inspect the following.




(1) Harness continuity
(1) Between PCM terminal 4G and distributor (6-pin) terminal D
(2) Between PCM terminal 4A and distributor (6-pin) terminal A
(3) Between main relay terminal D and distributor (6-pin) terminal B
(2) Distributor (6-pin) terminal B voltage: Battery.
7. If there is incorrect terminal voltage or harness continuity, replace the distributor.
