Fluid - Transfer Case: Service and Repair

TRANSFER CASE OIL REPLACEMENT
1. Remove the filler and level plugs.
2. Remove the drain plug, and drain the oil into a container.
3. Wipe all plugs clean.

4. Install the drain plug and a new washer.

Tightening torque 40-58 Nm (4.0-6.0 kgf-m, 29-43 ft. lbs.)

5. Add the specified oil through the filler plug port until the oil rises to the brim edge of the level plug hole.

Specified oil
Grade: API service GL-4 or GL-5
Viscosity: All-season SAE 75W-90
Viscosity: Above 10°C (50°F) SAE 80W-90
Capacity: 1.5 L ( 1.6 US quart, 1.3 Imp quart)

6. Install the filler and level plugs and new washers.

Tightening torque
Filler plug: 40-58 Nm (4.0-6.0 kgf-m, 29-43 ft. lbs.)
Level plug: 19-25 Nm (1.9-2.6 kgf-m, 14-18 ft. lbs.)
