Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection

IGNITION COIL INSPECTION

Primary Coil Winding

1. Disconnect the distributor connector.
2. Check for continuity between terminals F and G by using an ohmmeter.




3. If there is no continuity, replace the distributor.

Secondary Coil winding

1. Disconnect the distributor connector.
2. Remove the distributor cap.




3. Measure the resistance between terminal G and the body (ignition coil output terminal) by using an ohmmeter.

Specification: 20 - 31 K ohms 20°C (68°F)

4. If not as specified, replace the distributor.
