Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

NOTE: Perform the following test only when directed.

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.
2. Disconnect the PCM connector.

3. Connect the SST (104 Pin Breakout Box) to the PCM connector and the PCM as shown.
4. Tighten the connector attaching bolt.

Tightening torque
7.9 - 10.7 N.m {80 - 110 kgf.cm, 69.5 - 95.4 in.lbf}

5. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

6. Disconnect the vacuum hose between the fuel tank pressure sensor and the charcoal canister.

CAUTION: Do not apply vacuum out of specification. Doing so will damage the fuel tank pressure sensor.

Specification:

7. Apply pressure then vacuum to the fuel tank pressure sensor according to the following procedure.
1. Decrease the applied pressure from +6.66 kPa {+50 mmHg, +1.97 inHg} to -6.66 kpa {-50 mmHg, -1.97 inHg} and verify that the PCM terminal 62 voltage decreases accordingly as specified.
- If not as specified, perform the "Circuit Open/Short Inspection".

NOTE:
- The output voltage varies with the measuring condition.
- Input voltage 4.5 - 5.5 V
- Outside temperature 10 - 50 °C {50 - 122 °F}
- Sea level -200 - 3,000 m {-656 - 9,840 ft}
