Flex Plate: Service and Repair
OIL SEAL (TRANSMISSION) REPLACEMENT1. Clean the transmission exterior thoroughly using a steam cleaner or cleaning solvent.
2. Drain the ATF.
3. Remove the exhaust pipe.
4. Remove the propeller shaft.
5. Remove the oil seal using the SST.
6. Apply ATF to the new oil seal lip.
7. Install the oil seal to the position shown in the figure within dimension A as follows using the convex part of the SST.
Dimension A
6.2 - 6.8 mm (0.25 - 0.26 inch)
8. Install the retainer to dimension B position using the concave part of the SST.
Dimension B
0.7 - 1.3 mm (0.03 - 0.05 inch)
9. Install the propeller shaft.
10. Install the exhaust pipe.
11. Add ATF to the specified level.
12. Carry out the line pressure test.
13. Carry out the road test.
