Ignition, A/T - Can't Remove Key From Ignition Lock

DESCRIPTION

On some vehicles, the ignition key cannot be pulled out of the ignition switch after shifting the selector lever into P-range. This occurs from someone applying excessive force to the selector lever. The guide plate moves out of position causing poor contact in the P-range switch.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Replace the Change Control (gear selector lever) according to the Workshop Manual (section 05-18 P POSITION SWITCH (BUILT-IN SELECTOR LEVER) INSPECTION).

3. Verify repair.
