Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

Inspection and Verification

1. Verify the customer concern by operating the electronic door lock control system.




2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.
3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
4. If the diagnostic tool does not power up, see the diagnostic tool manual.
5. Carry out the diagnostic tool data link test. If the diagnostic tool responds with:
1. CAN, ISO, SCP or UBP circuit fault; all electronic control units no response/not equipped, see COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSIS.
2. No response/not equipped for PCM, see COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSIS.
3. System passed, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs, and carry out the self-test diagnostics for the SJB.

6. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the central security module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnostics.
7. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, proceed to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics.
8. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, GO to Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Diagnostic Index
