Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Vehicle Lifting: Service and Repair

JACKING

Warning: Do not run the engine when jacking the vehicle. The wheels contacting the ground could cause the vehicle to move.

Make sure the jack and jack stands are properly located to prevent the vehicle from falling.

Wheel chocks should be used to prevent the vehicle from rolling and falling off the jack.

The jacking point is a tab that extends from the front suspension lower control arm.

The rear jacking points are located on the rear axle.

LIFTING

Caution: Damage to suspension, exhaust and steering linkage components may occur if care is not exercised when positioning the hoist adapters prior to lifting the vehicle.

Never use a halfshaft or the differential housing as a lifting point.

Locate the front hoist adapters and rear hoist adapters on the frame of the vehicle as indicated.

Locate the front hoist adapters on the frame bracket and the rear hoist adapters on the vehicle frame as indicated.
