Upper Intake Manifold
UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLDRemoval and Installation
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See LIFTING.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. See BATTERY DISCONNECT.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.
4. Drain the cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING.
5. Disconnect the cables.
- Disconnect the throttle cable.
- If equipped, disconnect the cruise control cable.
- Remove the throttle cable bracket bolts.
6. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor and idle air control (IAC) electrical connectors.
7. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve vacuum hose and EGR tube nut.
8. Disconnect the EGR vacuum regulator valve electrical connector and vacuum hose.
9. Disconnect the three vacuum hoses on the back of the intake manifold.
- Disconnect the chassis vacuum hose.
- Disconnect the engine vacuum hose.
- Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose.
10. Disconnect the vapor management valve (VMV) vacuum hose.
11. Disconnect the two electrical connectors attached to the left side of the upper intake manifold.
12. Position the transaxle vent hose aside.
13. Remove the nut from the wire harness.
14. Remove the eight bolts and the upper intake manifold.
- Remove and inspect the gaskets. Discard if damaged.
- Clean all sealing surfaces.
15. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Tighten the upper intake manifold in the sequence shown.
