Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

INTAKE MANIFOLD

Removal and Installation
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See LIFTING.
2. Remove the throttle body.
3. Remove the fuel injection supply manifold.
4. Remove the oil level indicator tube.
5. Disconnect the vacuum tube and position it aside.
6. Disconnect and remove the vacuum hose
7. Disconnect the fuel vapor return hose.
8. Disconnect the idle air control (IAC) motor electrical connector
9. Disconnect the swirl control valve electrical connector.
10. Disconnect the knock sensor (KS) electrical connector.
11. Separate the KS wire harness from the intake manifold.
12. Disconnect the temperature manifold absolute pressure (TMAP) sensor electrical connector.
13. Disconnect the oil pressure sender electrical connector.




14. Detach the pin-type wire harness retainers and position the harness aside.

NOTE: There are three different size bolts used. Mark the location of the bolts to make sure they are installed in the correct location.

15. Remove the intake manifold bolts.
16. Reposition the intake manifold, loosen the lower crankcase ventilation hose clamp and disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose.
17. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tube.
18. Remove the intake manifold and the intake manifold gaskets.
19. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
