Intake Manifold Upper Removal/Installation

INTAKE MANIFOLD UPPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.




2. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. See AIR CLEANER OUTLET TUBE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.




3. Remove the bolt and the snow shield.




4. Disconnect the accelerator cable, speed control cable and return spring.




5. Disconnect the accelerator cable and speed control cable from the accelerator bracket.




6. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor and idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connectors.




7. Disconnect the two vacuum lines.




8. Detach the 42-pin wiring harness retainer from the stud bolt.




9. Remove the nut and the stud bolt.
- Position the 42-pin wiring harness and bracket aside.




10. Remove the oil indicator tube bracket nut and the upper intake manifold support bracket stud bolt.




11. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose and the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve tube.




12. Remove the bolts and the upper intake manifold.
- Remove the discard the gaskets.
- Clean and inspect all mating surfaces.

NOTE: Install new gaskets and tighten the upper intake manifold bolts in the sequence shown.




13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
