Emissions - MIL ON/DTC P0401 Set

2007 B-SERIES WITH 3.0L - MIL COMES ON WITH DTC P0401

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2007 B-Series vehicles with 3.0L (produced before October 15, 2006)

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may experience MIL comes on with DTC P0401 in memory. This symptom may be caused by a damaged EGR vacuum tube inside the vacuum harness because the vacuum harness is misrouted.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Retrieve DTC and if code P0401 is the only code present, continue to step 2. If P0401 is not present, do not continue with this bulletin, or if other DTCs are present, resolve those first before continuing with this bulletin.

2. Inspect EGR vacuum harness as required to ensure proper vacuum harness routing. The harness should run above the installed EGR valve.

3. Inspect the vacuum harness.

a. If vacuum harness is routed properly, perform normal diagnostics according to the Workshop Manual.

b. If vacuum harness is routed incorrectly, disconnect at the manifold and inspect for damage, then go to step 4.

4. Reroute the vacuum harness above the EGR valve, and if needed, replace it.

5. Clear the DTC.

6. Verify repair.
