Front Axle

PINION SEAL FRONT REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
1. Remove the companion flange.





2. Use Impact Slide Hammer SST 49 0223 630B and Converter Seal Remover SST 307-309 (T94P-77001-BH) or equivalent to remove the pinion seal.
3. Lubricate the pinion seal with axle lubricant meeting specification API Service GL-5.

Note:
^ Check the splines on the pinion stem to be sure they are free of burrs. If burrs are evident, remove them with a fine crocus cloth. Work in a rotating motion to wipe the pinion clean.





4. Clean the pinion seal bore and use Pinion Seal Replacer SST 205-133 (T79P-4676-A) or equivalent to install the pinion seal.
5. Install the companion flange.
