Canister Purge Control Valve: Service and Repair

CANISTER PURGE VALVE REMOVAL / INSTALLATION






WARNING: The evaporative emission (EVAP) system contains fuel vapor and condensed fuel vapor. Although not present in large quantities, it still presents the danger of explosion or fire. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery to minimize the possibility of an electrical spark occurring, possibly causing a fire or explosion if fuel vapor or liquid fuel is present in the area. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

1. Disconnect the battery.






2. Slide the evaporative emission (EVAP) vapor management valve off the bracket.






3. Disconnect the intake manifold vapor tube-to-EVAP vapor management valve quick connect coupling, fuel tank vapor tube-to-EVAP vapor management valve quick connect coupling and the EVAP vapor management valve electrical connector.
4. Remove the valve.
5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Perform the Evaporative Emission Running Loss Monitor Repair Verification Drive Cycle Test. See DRIVE CYCLES. Driver Cycles
