Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Spring Lock Couplings

SPRING LOCK COUPLINGS

WARNING: Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and can be ignited, resulting in possible personal injury.

Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running. Before repairing or disconnecting any of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved to prevent accidental spraying of fuel, causing personal injury or a fire hazard.

Disconnect Note

1. Relieve the fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELIEF.

2. Remove the fuel tube clip.

3. Install the appropriate Disconnect Tool SST 49 UN01 0510 or 49 UN01 0520 (310-D005) or equivalent.

4. Close and push Disconnect Tool SST 49 UN01 0510 or 49 UN01 0520 (310-D005) or equivalent into the open side of the cage.

5. Separate the fitting.

6. Remove Disconnect Tool SST 49 UN01 0510 or 49 UN01 0520.

Connect Note

1. Inspect and clean both the coupling ends.

2. Connect the fitting by inserting the male end into the female end of the fitting. Push the fitting together until the garter spring is engaged.

3. Pull on the fitting to make sure it is fully engaged.

4. Install the safety clip.
