Rocker Arm Assembly: Service and Repair

CAMSHAFT ROLLER FOLLOWERS - 3.0L (4V) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. With the engine in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Remove the LH and RH valve covers.

Caution
^ Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs or damage may occur to the cylinder head or spark plug.

3. Remove the 6 spark plugs.
^ To install, tighten to 15 N-m (1.5 kgf-m, 11 ft-lbf).
4. Remove the RH splash shield.
^ To install, tighten to 9 N-m (0.9 kgf-m, 80 in-lbf).
5. Rotate the crankshaft until the camshaft lobe is pointing directly away from the follower.
6. Using the special tool, remove the followers.





7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Lubricate the camshaft followers with clean engine oil.
