Ignition Coil: Service and Repair

IGNITION COIL-ON-PLUG - 3.0L (4V) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Removal

RH side
1. Remove the upper intake manifold.

NOTE: The upper intake manifold must be removed to access the RH ignition coils only.

Both sides
2. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connectors.
3. Remove the bolts and the ignition coils.

NOTE: When removing the ignition coil-on-plugs, a slight twisting motion will break the seal and ease removal.

Installation

Both sides
1. Install the ignition coils and bolts.
- Tighten to 7 N.m {0.7 kgf.m, 62 in.lbf}.

NOTE: Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil boots before attaching to the spark plugs.

2. Connect the ignition coil electrical connectors.
- To install, tighten to 15 N.m {1.5 kgf.m, 11 ft.lbf}.

RH side
3. Install the upper intake manifold.
