Engine - Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair




ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L5]

WARNING:
- When the engine is hot, it can badly burn. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the ECT sensor.

CAUTION:
- Parts for engines manufactured in Mexico and Hiroshima cannot be used interchangeably as the engine will not operate correctly resulting in a serious malfunction. To prevent this, when replacing parts refer to the 'VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (VIN) CODE' table below and verify the engine's place of manufacture before performing the servicing. 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Drain the engine coolant. Service Precautions

3. Remove the battery and battery tray. Removal and Replacement

4. Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.

5. Remove the ECT sensor.

6. Install in the reverse order of removal.

7. Refill the engine coolant. Service Precautions
