Ball Joint

FRONT UPPER ARM INSPECTION

Inspect the ball joint rotational torque.
a. Rotate the ball joint five times.

b. Measure the rotational torque using a suitable allen socket and a torque wrench.






- If not within the specification, replace the lower arm component.

Front upper arm ball joint rotation torque
- 1.5 Nm {15 kgf-cm, 13 in-lbf} max.

FRONT LOWER ARM INSPECTION

Install the torque wrench to the front lower arm ball joint.






Measure the starting torque.

Front lower arm starting torque
- 18 Nm {1.8 kgf-m, 13 ft-lbf} max.

Rotate the ball joint stud 5 times.

Measure the rotational torque.
- If not within the specification, replace the lower arm.

Front lower arm rotational torque
- 1.2-2.2 Nm {13-22 kgf-cm, 11-19 in-lbf} max.
