DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) or wrench light with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2135 (Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A / B Voltage Correlation). DTCs P2111 (Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) System - Stuck Open) and/or P0122 (Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor A Circuit Low) may also be present. Drivability symptoms may include intermittent rough idle, idle speed below specification and/or reduced power. This concern may be attributed to the Throttle Body Assembly hardware. If the vehicle only exhibits DTCs P2111 or P0122, follow normal pinpoint test diagnostics per M53 online or Workshop Manual [section 01-01A THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL (ETC)].
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Check for DTCs and confirm vehicle build date. Is DTC P2135 present?
a. Yes - Proceed to Step 2.
b. No - Procedure does not apply. Refer to M53 online or Workshop Manual (section 01-01A UNIQUE IDLE CONCERN) for appropriate diagnostic routines.
2. Replace the Throttle Body Assembly per the Workshop Manual (section 01-13A THROTTLE BODY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 2.5L) or (section 01-13A THROTTLE BODY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 3.0L).
3. Verify repair.
