Water Pump: Service and Repair

WATER PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 3.0L










Removal

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See Lifting.

2. Drain the engine cooling system. See - Removal and Replacement.

3. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe. See - Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe Removal/Installation.

4. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the thermostat housing.

5. Remove the water pump belt. See - Water Pump Belt Removal/Installation.

6. Remove the 3 bolts and the coolant pump.

- Remove and discard the gasket.

Installation

1. Using a new gasket, install the coolant pump and the 3 bolts.

- Tighten to 15 Nm {1.5 kgf-m, 133 in-lbf}.

2. Install the water pump belt. See - Water Pump Belt Removal/Installation.

3. Connect the lower radiator hose to the thermostat housing.

4. Install the ACL outlet pipe. See - Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe Removal/Installation.

5. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system. See - Removal and Replacement.
