CYLINDER HEAD GASKET REPLACEMENT [F2]

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine coolant. (See COOLING SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [F2].) (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [F2].)
3. Remove the timing belt. (See TIMING BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [F2].)
4. Remove the front pipe. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [F2].)
5. Remove the air hose.
6. Disconnect the PCV hose.
7. Disconnect the accelerator cable and bracket
8. Disconnect the vacuum hoses, and engine harness connector.
9. Disconnect the fuel hoses. (See BEFORE REPAIR PROCEDURE [F2].) (See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE [F2].)
10. Remove the dynamic chamber bracket.
11. Disconnect the heater hoses.
12. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
13. Install in the reverse order of removal.
14. Inspect for fuel leakage.
15. Inspect the compression. (See COMPRESSION INSPECTION [F2].)
16. Start the engine and inspect the idle speed. (See ENGINE TUNE-UP [F2].)

1. Loosen the cylinder head bolts a few terns in the order shown.

1. Tighten the cylinder head bolts a few terns in the order shown.

Cylinder Head Cover Installation Note
1. Verify that the grooves on the cylinder head cover are free of oil, water and other foreign material.
2. Apply sealant all around the cylinder head cover side of the cylinder head cover gasket surface.
3. Install the cylinder head cover gasket into the cylinder head cover.
4. Apply silicone sealant to the shaded area as shown.

5. Install the cylinder head cover and tighten the bolts a few turns in the order shown.
