2. Preliminary and post procedures

1. Preliminary procedures

1) Open the engine hood.

2) Disconnect the battery cable from the battery negative terminal.

Caution

  • After turning OFF the ignition switch (power mode for models with passive entry and start system), do not disconnect the battery cable within 3 minutes.
  • If the battery cable is disconnected within 3 minutes, the vehicle electronic control system may malfunction.
  • If the battery cable is disconnected, perform the setting of the front door power window switch with AUTO UP/AUTO DOWN function after connecting the battery negative terminal.

8. Steering wheel removal

1) Put the tires in a forward travel position.

2) Draw alignment marks on the steering wheel and steering shaft.

3) Remove the nut from the steering shaft.

4) Remove the steering wheel from the steering shaft using the special tool.

Caution

  • The steering wheel should never be removed using a hammer or tool that causes shock.

The steering wheel is designed to absorb impact.

9. Assist grip removal

1. Models with assist grips

1) Remove the assist grip from the head lining.

10. Hole cover removal

1. Models without assist grips

1) Remove the hole cover from the head lining.

11. Front sill plate removal

1) Remove the front sill plate from the floor.

Regular cab, crew cab

12. Front door finisher removal

1) Remove the front door finisher from the body.

13. Front pillar trim cover removal

1. Models with assist grips

1) Remove the assist grip from the front pillar trim cover.

2) Remove the front pillar trim cover from the front pillar.

14. Rear sill plate removal

1) Remove the rear sill plate from the floor.

15. Rear door finisher removal

1) Remove the rear door finisher from the body.

16. Center pillar lower trim cover removal

1) Remove the seat belt lower anchor bolt from the center pillar.

17. Center pillar upper trim cover removal

1) Remove the adjuster cover from the seat belt upper anchor bolt.

2) Remove the seat belt upper anchor bolt from the center pillar.

3) Remove the assist grip from the center pillar.

4) Remove the center pillar upper trim cover from the center pillar.

18. Rear end upper trim cover removal

1) Remove the rear end upper trim cover from the body panel.

Caution

  • For models with center top tethers (bracket type), disengage the clips and claws, and then pull upward while bending the end of the rear end upper trim to an extent that it will not get damaged.

Models with center top tethers (bracket type)

  6. Bend the end of the rear end upper trim cover.
  7. Pull out the rear end upper trim upward.
  8. Center top tether (Bracket type)

Models without center top tethers (bracket type)

19. Rear pillar trim cover removal

1) Remove the rear pillar lower trim cover from the rear pillar.

2) Remove the rear pillar upper trim cover from the rear pillar.

20. Dome light removal

1) Remove the dome light from the head lining.

Legend

  2. Dome light

2) Disconnect the connector from the dome light.

21. Map light removal

1) Insert a small flathead screwdriver, etc., into the gap between the head lining and the map light to unlock the claw section.

2) Remove the map light from the head lining.

Caution

  • Do not remove the map light with the claw section locked.

3) Disconnect the connector from the map light.

22. Sun visor removal

1) Remove the sun visor cover from the sun visor bracket.

2) Remove the sun visor from the head lining.

Legend

3) For models with mirror lights, disconnect the connector from the sun visor.

23. Head lining removal

1) Remove the clips from the head lining.

2) Remove the sun visor holder from the head lining.

Note

  • Pull out the claw section while pressing it in the direction of the arrow.

3) Remove the head lining from vehicle.

4) Disconnect the connector from the head lining.
