DTC P0780 (Flash Code 91) Shift Error (AWR6B45)

1. DTC P0780 description

The TCM selects the optimal gear in response to various input signals. The TCM activates each solenoid according to the selected gear in order to switch the ATF oil path, and controls oil pressure to the clutch and brake to shift the gear position. If the TCM detects a difference between the selected gear and the actual gear, the DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC P0780

Condition for running the DTC

  • The ignition switch is ON.
  • DTCs P1607 and P1613 are not set.

Condition for setting the DTC

Any of the following conditions are met:

  • Comparing the current gear with the lowest acceptable gear, the current gear is lower than the lowest acceptable gear.
  • Comparing the desired gear with the lowest acceptable gear, the desired gear is lower than the lowest acceptable gear.
  • The engine speed or input speed exceeds the overrev speed.

3. Action taken when DTC P0780 sets

  • The TCM flashes the check trans warning light. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type A.

  • The gear is fixed to 5th.

4. Condition for clearing DTC P0780

  • Refer to Condition for clearing the MIL, check trans warning light/DTC - Type A or Type B.
