DTC U2001[88] LIN Communication (IBS (RZ4E-TC))

1. IBS system check

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(IBS (RZ4E-TC)) diagnostic system check-IBS".

2. Current DTC check

1) Connect the scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.

3) Start the engine.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to Charging system inspection.

No

Go to Intermittent conditions of IBS.

Refer to "202.Engine 15D.Symptom(IBS (RZ4E-TC)) intermittent conditions of IBS".

3. Charging system inspection

1) Inspect the charging system. Is the result normal?

Refer to "1.Engine 1J.Electrical(RZ4E-TC) generator inspection".

Refer to "202.Engine 15D.Symptom(RZ4E-TC) defect of charging system".

Yes

=>Go to Inspection for open circuit and short circuit in the LIN circuit.

No

Repair the charging system.

=>Go to Repair verification.

4. Inspection for open circuit and short circuit in the LIN circuit

1) Inspect the LIN circuit between the battery sensor (pin 6 of C49) and the generator (pin 1 of E16) for the following. Is the result normal?

  • Open circuit
  • Short to the battery power supply circuit or short to the ignition power supply circuit
  • Short to ground
  • High resistance

Refer to "LHD Battery Sensor" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Battery Sensor" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Generator harness connector inspection.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

5. Generator harness connector inspection

1) Inspect for poor connections at the generator harness connector (pin 1 of E16). Is the connection status normal?

Refer to "LHD Battery Sensor" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Battery Sensor" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Battery sensor harness connector inspection.

No

Repair the connections as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

6. Battery sensor harness connector inspection

1) Inspect for poor connections at the battery sensor harness connector (pin 6 of C49). Is the connection status normal?

Refer to "LHD Battery Sensor" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Battery Sensor" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Battery sensor replacement.

No

Repair the connections as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

7. Battery sensor replacement

Refer to "1.Engine 1J.Electrical(RZ4E-TC) battery sensor removal".

Refer to "1.Engine 1J.Electrical(RZ4E-TC) battery sensor installation".

Procedure completion

=>Go to Repair verification.

8. Repair verification

1) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.

3) Start and idle the engine.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
