The oil level sensor is integrated with the oil temperature sensor and it is installed at the bottom left of the cylinder block. The oil temperature sensor is a variable resistor and calibrates the oil level by measuring engine oil temperature. This sensor has the signal circuit and ground circuit, and each of them is connected to the ECM. The oil temperature sensor resistance is high when the engine oil temperature is low, and the sensor resistance decreases as the engine oil temperature increases. The ECM detects a high voltage when the sensor resistance is high, and a low voltage when the sensor resistance is low. If the ECM detects an excessively high signal voltage, the DTC is set.
