The inhibitor switch is connected to the manual valve lever shaft, and is installed to the transmission case. Supplied with ignition power, the inhibitor switch closes contact points of P, R, N, and D in accordance with selector lever operation, and supplies ignition voltage to the TCM. The TCM detects the shift position based on the signals from the inhibitor switch. If the TCM detects that the inhibitor switch signal does not match the range display in the instrument panel cluster, the DTC is set.
