1) Connect the scan tool.
2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 1 minute or more.
3) Turn ON the ignition switch.
4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is DTC P0117, P0118, P0380, P0685, or P0687 set at the same time?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC diagnosis.

=>Go to Glow relay operation check.
1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2) Check that the glow relay power supply connector (E23) of the metal bus bar is securely connected.
3) Check that all glow plugs and the metal bus bar are securely connected.
4) Connect a test lamp between the glow relay power supply circuit (pin 1 of E23) of the metal bus bar and the body ground.

5) Turn ON the ignition switch.
6) Perform the Glow Relay with a scan tool.
7) Command the glow relay ON while observing the test lamp. Does the test lamp illuminate when only an ON command is executed?
Yes
No
=>Go to Glow relay power supply circuit check.
1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2) Remove the metal bus bar from the glow plug.
3) Measure the resistance of each glow plug between the glow plug and the body ground with a DMM. Is the difference between each glow plug resistance within the specified range?
Note
Value: 1 Ω
Yes
The system is normal.
No
Replace the glow plug that exceeds the specified value.

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2) Replace the glow relay with a known good relay.
3) Connect a test lamp between the glow relay power supply circuit (pin 1 of E23) of the metal bus bar and the body ground.

4) Turn ON the ignition switch.
5) Perform the Glow Relay with a scan tool.
6) Command the glow relay ON while observing the test lamp. Does the test lamp illuminate when only an ON command is executed?
Yes
=>Go to Glow relay terminal inspection.
No
1) Inspect for a blown out GLOW 60A slow blow fuse in the chassis side relay box. Is the result normal?
Yes
=>Go to Inspection for open circuit in battery power supply circuit.
No
Replace the slow blow fuse. If the slow blow fuse blows out again, repair the short to ground in the circuits relating to the GLOW 60A slow blow fuse.
1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2) Remove the glow relay.
3) Connect a test lamp between the battery power supply circuit (pin 1 of Fuse and Relay Box (Engine Compartment) GLOW) and the body ground.

Repair the open circuit or high resistance in the battery power supply circuit between the GLOW 60A slow blow fuse and the glow relay (pin 1 of Fuse and Relay Box (Engine Compartment) GLOW).
1) Connect a test lamp between the glow relay power supply circuit (pin 2 of Fuse and Relay Box (Engine Compartment) GLOW) and the body ground.

1) Inspect for poor connections at each glow relay terminal (pins 1 and 2 of Fuse and Relay Box (Engine Compartment) GLOW) Is the connection status normal?

Repair the connections as necessary.
1) Reconnect all of the disconnected components, fuses, relays, and harness connectors.
2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 1 minute or more.
3) Connect a test lamp between the glow relay power supply circuit (pin 1 of E23) of the glow plug connector and the body ground.
