DTC B0090[09] Front Airbag Sensor(Left) Malfunction (Air Bag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Roof/Knee/Far Side))

1. SRS system check

Refer to "58.SRS Control 8A.Troubleshooting(Air Bag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Roof/Knee/Far Side)) diagnostic system check-SRS controls".

2. Electronic equipment installation status check

1) Check whether any aftermarket electronic equipment is installed. Is any aftermarket electronic equipment installed?

Yes

=>Go to Vehicle check.

No

=>Go to Inspection for short circuit in left side front airbag sensor (+) circuit.

3. Vehicle check

1) Connect the scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 15 seconds or more.

3) Turn OFF the power of all aftermarket electronic equipment.

4) Perform a test drive.

5) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool for DTC B0090[09] being set as a current failure. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to Inspection for short circuit in left side front airbag sensor (+) circuit.

No

Explain to the customer that aftermarket electronic equipment may be the cause of the defect and remove the aftermarket electronic equipment.

=>Go to Repair verification.

4. Inspection for short circuit in left side front airbag sensor (+) circuit

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 15 seconds or more.

2) Disconnect the left side front airbag sensor harness connector (C23) and SRS control unit harness connector (B9).

3) Inspect the left side front airbag sensor (+) circuit between the SRS control unit (pin 12 of B9) and the left side front airbag sensor (pin 2 of C23) for a short to another circuit. Is the result normal?

Refer to "RHD SRS airbag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Curtain/Knee)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD SRS airbag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Curtain/Knee/Far Side)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Inspection for short circuit in left side front airbag sensor (-) circuit.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

5. Inspection for short circuit in left side front airbag sensor (-) circuit

1) Inspect the left side front airbag sensor (-) circuit between the SRS control unit (pin 20 of B9) and the left side front airbag sensor (pin 1 of C23) for a short to another circuit. Is the result normal?

Refer to "RHD SRS airbag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Curtain/Knee)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD SRS airbag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Curtain/Knee/Far Side)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Left side front airbag sensor harness connector inspection.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

6. Left side front airbag sensor harness connector inspection

1) Inspect for poor connections at the left side front airbag sensor harness connector (pins 1 and 2 of C23). Is the result normal?

Refer to "LHD SRS airbag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Curtain/Knee)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD SRS airbag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Curtain/Knee)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD SRS airbag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Curtain/Knee/Far Side)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

Replace the left side front airbag sensor.

Refer to "8.Restraints 8Z.Seat Belt and SRS Airbag Electrical Control front airbag sensor removal".

Refer to "8.Restraints 8Z.Seat Belt and SRS Airbag Electrical Control front airbag sensor installation".

=>Go to Current DTC check.

No

Repair the connections as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

7. Current DTC check

1) Reconnect all of the disconnected harness connectors.

2) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

3) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 15 seconds or more.

4) Perform a test drive.

5) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to SRS control unit replacement.

No

=>Go to Repair verification.

8. SRS control unit replacement

Note

  • Perform the VIN programming and ECU lock after replacing the SRS control unit.

Procedure completion

=>Go to Repair verification.

9. Repair verification

1) Reconnect all of the disconnected harness connectors.

2) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

3) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 15 seconds or more.

4) Turn ON the ignition switch.

5) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
