DTC C172F[12] DRL Left Circuit Short to Battery (BCM)

1. DTC C172F[12] description

When the light control switch is set to the OFF, TAIL, or AUTO position while the engine is running, the daytime running light (DRL) is activated. When the DRL operating conditions are met, the BCM controls the DRL output circuit and illuminates the DRL. If the BCM detects a malfunction in the DRL output circuit, the DTC is set.

The specifications of the DRL output circuit controlled by the BCM differ as follows depending on the installation position of the DRL.

2. Condition for setting DTC C172F[12]

Condition for running the DTC

  • The DRL operation conditions are met.

Condition for setting the DTC

Any of the following conditions are met:

  • The BCM detects a short to the power supply in the DRL (left) output circuit for 2.5 seconds or more.
  • The BCM detects an overloading to the DRL (left) output circuit for 2 seconds or more.

3. Action taken when DTC C172F[12] sets

  • The DRL (left) does not operate normally.
  • Current and past failures are set.
