Diagnostic system check-body controls (BCM)

  • If there are no complaints on drivability, do not perform these diagnostic steps unless otherwise instructed in other sections.
  • Check for related Service Bulletins before starting the diagnosis.
  • Do not clear the DTC unless instructed to do so in a diagnostic step.
  • The battery should be fully charged.
  • The battery cable should be normal and securely connected.
  • The ground of the BCM should be securely connected to the correct position.
  • The BCM harness connectors should be clean and correctly connected.
  • The BCM terminals should be clean and correctly connected.
  • Vehicle information should be programmed correctly in the BCM.

1. Scan tool power-up check

1) Connect the scan tool.

2) Power up the scan tool. Does the scan tool power up?

Yes

=>Go to Scan tool communication verification.

No

Go to Scan tool does not power up.

2. Scan tool communication verification

1) Turn ON the ignition switch.

2) Check the communication status with the BCM using the scan tool. Does the scan tool communicate with the BCM?

Yes

=>Go to BCM DTC check.

No

Go to Lost communication with the BCM.

3. BCM DTC check

1) Observe the BCM DTC information on the scan tool. Is a DTC set?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC diagnosis.

No

=>Go to Customer's concern check.

4. Customer's concern check

1) Check the customer's concern. Is the customer's concern related to the immobilizer system?

Yes

Go to Diagnostic system check-Wireless Access Module.

No

=>Go to Symptom check.

5. Symptom check

1) Operate the vehicle and check the following symptoms. Is there any applicable symptom?

  • All doors neither lock nor unlock.
  • Auto door lock or auto door unlock does not work
  • Door at the driver side does not lock or unlock.
  • Door at the passenger side does not lock or unlock.
  • Rear right door does not lock or unlock.
  • Rear left door does not lock or unlock.
  • Door lock at the driver side does not work.
  • Door lock works with keyless entry functions, but does not answer back, or room light does not illuminate.
  • Windshield washer does not operate
  • Windshield wiper does not operate together with the windshield washer
  • Wiper stops at halfway even if the wiper switch is other than the OFF position
  • Wiper's auto-stop does not function
  • Anti theft does not operate
