Door switch system check (BCM)

1. Body control system check

Refer to "64.Body Control 10I.Troubleshooting(BCM) diagnostic system check-body controls".

2. Door switch signal check

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Turn ON the ignition switch.

3) Observe the following parameters on the scan tool while opening and closing each door repeatedly. Do all parameters match the door opening/closing operation?

  • Driver Seat Door Switch (M06-5)
  • Passenger Seat Door Switch (M06-7)
  • Rear Right Door Switch (M06-14)
  • Rear Left Door Switch (M06-6)

Yes

=>Go to Door inspection.

No (Normally ON)

Note

  • Perform the following inspections only for the circuits related to the door whose opening/closing operations do not match the scan tool parameter.

=>Go to Inspection for short circuit in door switch.

No (Normally OFF)

Note

  • Perform the following inspections only for the circuits related to the door whose opening/closing operations do not match the scan tool parameter.

=>Go to Inspection for open circuit in door switch.

3. Door inspection

1) Visually inspect the door (near the door switch) for abnormal conditions such as dents or damage. Is the result normal?

Yes

The system is normal.

No

Repair as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

4. Inspection for short circuit in door switch

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the door switch harness connector.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the door switch parameter on the scan tool. Does the door switch parameter show OFF?

Yes

Replace the door switch.

=>Go to Repair verification.

No

=>Go to Inspection for short circuit in door switch signal circuit.

5. Inspection for short circuit in door switch signal circuit

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the BCM harness connector (B19).

3) Inspect there is no continuity between the following terminals and the body ground with a DMM. Is the result normal?

  • Driver Seat Door Switch: BCM (pin 5 of B19)
  • Passenger Seat Door Switch: BCM (pin 7 of B19)
  • Rear Right Door Switch: BCM (pin 14 of B19)
  • Rear Left Door Switch: BCM (pin 6 of B19)

Refer to "LHD Body Control" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Body Control (4JJ3 with DPD)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Body Control (4JJ3 without DPD, RZ4E)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to BCM harness connector inspection.

No

Repair the short to ground in the signal circuit between the BCM and the door switch.

=>Go to Repair verification.

6. Inspection for open circuit in door switch

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Remove the door switch.

3) Inspect for continuity between each door switch connector terminal and the metal section of the door switch back surface with a DMM. Is the result normal?

Refer to "RHD Body Control (4JJ3 with DPD)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Body Control (4JJ3 without DPD, RZ4E)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Inspection for open circuit in door switch signal circuit.

No

Replace the door switch.

Refer to "9.Body, Cab, Accessories 9A.Lighting Systems door switch installation".

=>Go to Repair verification.

7. Inspection for open circuit in door switch signal circuit

1) Disconnect the BCM harness connector (B19).

2) Inspect the following circuits for an open circuit or high resistance. Is the result normal?

  • Driver Seat Door Switch: Between the BCM (pin 5 of B19) and the door switch (pin 1 of R16)
  • Passenger Seat Door Switch: Between the BCM (pin 7 of B19) and the door switch (pin 1 of R17)
  • Rear Right Door Switch: Between the BCM (pin 14 of B19) and the door switch (pin 1 of R24)
  • Rear Left Door Switch: Between the BCM (pin 6 of B19) and the door switch (pin 1 of R25)

Yes

=>Go to BCM harness connector inspection.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

8. BCM harness connector inspection

1) Inspect for poor connections at the BCM harness connector (pins 5, 6, 7, and 14 of B19). Is the connection status normal?

Refer to "LHD Body Control" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Body Control (4JJ3 with DPD)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Body Control (4JJ3 without DPD, RZ4E)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to BCM replacement.

No

Repair the connections as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

9. BCM replacement

Note

  • Perform programming after replacing the BCM.

10. Repair verification

1) Connect all of the disconnected harness connectors.

2) Connect the scan tool.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the following parameters on the scan tool while opening and closing each door repeatedly. Do all parameters match the door opening/closing operation?

  • Driver Seat Door Switch (M06-5)
  • Passenger Seat Door Switch (M06-7)
  • Rear Right Door Switch (M06-14)
  • Rear Left Door Switch (M06-6)

Yes

The system is normal.

No

=>Go to Door switch signal check.
