1) Connect the scan tool.
2) Turn OFF the ignition switch.
3) Turn ON the ignition switch.
4) Operate the gearshift lever (MT models) or selector lever (AT models) to the R position.
5) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is a DTC set?
Yes
=>Go to Back up light inspection.
No
Go to Intermittent conditions of body control system.

1) Inspect the back up light for the following. Is the result normal?
Yes
=>Go to Inspection for open circuit in back up light (right) output circuit.
No
Repair or replace as necessary.
1) Disconnect the following harness connector.
2) Inspect the back up light (right) output circuit between the BCM (pin 5 of C18) and the rear combination light R/H (pin 5 of R34) for an open circuit or high resistance. Is the result normal?
