Description

Error signal received from PCM

Detection condition

•  The parking assist unit (optical) detects a signal error from the PCM for a certain period of time or more.

Fail-safe

•  The parking assist system displays for only 8 s on the center display when the monitor switch is pressed, and then it switches to non-display

Possible cause

•  DTCs are stored in the PCM.

•  PCM malfunction

•  Parking assist unit (optical) malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

1	VERIFY PARKING ASSIST UNIT (OPTICAL) DTCs • Clear the DTC for the parking assist unit (optical) using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [PARKING ASSIST UNIT (OPTICAL)].) • Retrieve the parking assist unit (optical) DTCs using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [PARKING ASSIST UNIT (OPTICAL)].) • Is the same DTC displayed?	Yes	Replace the parking assist unit (optical), then go to Step 4. (See PARKING ASSIST UNIT (OPTICAL) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	VERIFY PCM DTCs • Retrieve the PCM DTCs using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5))].) (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5))].) (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (SKYACTIV-D 2.2)].) (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (SKYACTIV-G 2.5T)].) • Are any DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. 3	VERIFY IF MALFUNCTIONING LOCATION IS PCM DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY • Clear the DTC for the parking assist unit (optical) using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [PARKING ASSIST UNIT (OPTICAL)].) • Retrieve the parking assist unit (optical) DTCs using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [PARKING ASSIST UNIT (OPTICAL)].) • Is the same DTC displayed?	Yes	Replace the PCM, then go to the next step. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5)].) (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5)].) 3		No	Go to Step 5.
4	VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED • Clear the DTC for the parking assist unit (optical) using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [PARKING ASSIST UNIT (OPTICAL)].) • Retrieve the parking assist unit (optical) DTCs using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [PARKING ASSIST UNIT (OPTICAL)].) • Is the same DTC displayed?	Yes	Repeat the inspection from Step 1. • If the malfunction recurs, replace the parking assist unit (optical). (See PARKING ASSIST UNIT (OPTICAL) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) Go to the next step.
4		No	Go to the next step.
5	VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED • Are any other DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [PARKING ASSIST UNIT (OPTICAL)].)
5		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
