Description

VIN mismatch

Detection condition
•  The parking assist unit (optical) detects that the VIN sent from the instrument cluster does not match.
Fail-safe
•  Side view guide lines are not displayed when system is starting
Possible cause
•  The parking assist unit (optical) is installed on a different vehicle.
•  DTCs are stored in the instrument cluster.
•  instrument cluster malfunction
•  Parking assist unit (optical) malfunction

VERIFY IF PARKING ASSIST UNIT (OPTICAL) WAS INSTALLED ON DIFFERENT VEHICLE
•  Verify if the parking assist unit (optical) was installed on a different vehicle.
•  Was the parking assist unit (optical) installed on a different vehicle?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 3.

VERIFY IF MALFUNCTIONING LOCATION IS INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY
•  Clear the DTC for the parking assist unit (optical) using the M-MDS.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 1.5 s or more.
•  Retrieve the parking assist unit (optical) DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 6.

VERIFY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DTCs
•  Retrieve the instrument cluster DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY IF MALFUNCTIONING LOCATION IS INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY
•  Clear the DTC for the parking assist unit (optical) using the M-MDS.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 1.5 s or more.
•  Retrieve the parking assist unit (optical) DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Replace the instrument cluster, then go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 6.

VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
•  Clear the DTC for the parking assist unit (optical) using the M-MDS.
•  Retrieve the parking assist unit (optical) DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the parking assist unit (optical).
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
6
VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
