Determination Procedure

Caution
•  When disconnecting the connector, verify that there is no looseness, damage, deformation, corrosion, or poor connection of the connector terminals.
•  When inspecting the connector, touch it with a paper clip or similar thin pin without directly inserting a tester probe into the terminal.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-63 AND REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM)
•  Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
•  Disconnect connector C-63.
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between rear body control module (RBCM) terminal 3E and body ground
―  Between rear body control module (RBCM) terminal 3G and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to Step 11.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-63 AND CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between climate control unit terminal 1K and body ground (with full-auto air conditioner)
―  Between climate control unit terminal 1M and body ground (with full-auto air conditioner)
―  Between climate control unit terminal Q and body ground (with manual air conditioner)
―  Between climate control unit terminal S and body ground (with manual air conditioner)
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 4.

INSPECT CAN LINE IN CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
•  Disconnect the climate control unit connector.
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between climate control unit terminal 1K (wiring harness side) and body ground (with full-auto air conditioner)
―  Between climate control unit terminal 1M (wiring harness side) and body ground (with full-auto air conditioner)
―  Between climate control unit terminal Q (wiring harness side) and body ground (with manual air conditioner)
―  Between climate control unit terminal S (wiring harness side) and body ground (with manual air conditioner)
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the climate control unit and connector C-63 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Replace the climate control unit because there is a short to ground in the climate control unit.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-63 AND PARKING ASSIST UNIT (ULTRASONIC)
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between parking assist unit (ultrasonic) terminal AA and body ground
―  Between parking assist unit (ultrasonic) terminal AB and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 6.

INSPECT CAN LINE IN PARKING ASSIST UNIT (ULTRASONIC) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
•  Disconnect the parking assist unit (ultrasonic) connector.
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between parking assist unit (ultrasonic) terminal AA (wiring harness side) and body ground
―  Between parking assist unit (ultrasonic) terminal AB (wiring harness side) and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between parking assist unit (ultrasonic) and connector C-63 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Replace the parking assist unit (ultrasonic) because there is a short to ground inside the parking assist unit (ultrasonic).

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-63 AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between instrument cluster terminal C and body ground
―  Between instrument cluster terminal E and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 8.

INSPECT CAN LINE IN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR SHORT TO GROUND
•  Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between instrument cluster terminal C (wiring harness side) and body ground
―  Between instrument cluster terminal E (wiring harness side) and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the instrument cluster and connector C-63 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Replace the instrument cluster because there is a short to ground in the instrument cluster.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-63 AND CONNECTOR C-17
•  Disconnect connector C-17.
•  Connect connector C-63.
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between instrument cluster terminal C and body ground
―  Between instrument cluster terminal E and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-63 and connector C-17 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-17 AND DLC-2
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between DLC-2 terminal L and body ground
―  Between DLC-2 terminal K and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-17 and DLC-2 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT CAN LINE IN GATEWAY UNIT (GWU) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
•  Disconnect the connector 2 which has gateway unit (GWU) terminals 2L and 2J.
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between gateway unit (GWU) terminal 2L and body ground
―  Between gateway unit (GWU) terminal 2J and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Replace the gateway unit (GWU) because there is a short to ground in the gateway unit (GWU).
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the gateway unit (GWU) and connector C-17 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTORS C-82, C-83 AND REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM)
•  Disconnect connectors C-82, C-83.
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between DLC-2 terminal L and body ground
―  Between DLC-2 terminal K and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to Step 15.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTORS C-82, C-83 AND WIRELESS CHARGER (Qi)
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between wireless charger (Qi) terminal F and body ground
―  Between wireless charger (Qi) terminal D and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-63 and connectors C-82, C-83 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.

INSPECT CAN LINE IN WIRELESS CHARGER (Qi) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
•  Disconnect the wireless charger (Qi) connector.
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between wireless charger (Qi) terminal terminal F (wiring harness side) and body ground
―  Between wireless charger (Qi) terminal terminal D (wiring harness side) and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between wireless charger (Qi) and connectors C-82, C-83 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Replace the wireless charger (Qi) because there is a short to ground in the wireless charger (Qi).

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTORS C-82, C-83 AND CONNECTOR C-64
•  Disconnect connector C-64.
•  Connect connectors C-82, C-83.
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between DLC-2 terminal L and body ground
―  Between DLC-2 terminal K and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between connectors C-82, C-83 and connector C-64 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Go to Step 16.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-63 AND CONNECTOR C-64
•  Disconnect connector C-64.
•  Connect connector C-63.
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between DLC-2 terminal L and body ground
―  Between DLC-2 terminal K and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-63 and connector C-64 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-64 AND CONNECTOR C-14
•  Disconnect connector C-14.
•  Connect connector C-64.
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between DLC-2 terminal L and body ground
―  Between DLC-2 terminal K and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-64 and connector C-14 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-14 AND REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM)
•  Disconnect the rear body control module (RBCM) connector.
•  Connect connector C-14.
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between DLC-2 terminal L and body ground
―  Between DLC-2 terminal K and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-14 and rear body control module (RBCM) because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE (LH) AND REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM)
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between rear body control module (RBCM) terminal 4I (wiring harness side) and body ground
―  Between rear body control module (RBCM) terminal 4L (wiring harness side) and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the rear body control module (RBCM) because there is a short to ground in the rear body control module (RBCM).

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE (LH) AND CONNECTOR C-39
•  Disconnect connector C-39.
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) terminal C and body ground
―  Between blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) terminal D and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the rear body control module (RBCM) and connector C-39 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.

INSPECT CAN LINE IN BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE (LH) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
•  Disconnect the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) connector.
•  Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
―  Between blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) terminal C (wiring harness side) and body ground
―  Between blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) terminal D (wiring harness side) and body ground
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) and connector C-39 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Replace the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) because there is a short to ground in the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH).
