Warning

•  Handling a seat equipped with a side air bag improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions in the Workshop Manual before handling a seat (side air bag integrated). •  If the sliding mechanisms on both sides are not locked after assembling the front seat, it may move unexpectedly while the vehicle is driven, which could result in serious injury. After assembling the front seat, try moving it back and forth to verify that the sliding mechanism on both sides are locked.

Caution

•  After the front seat has been removed, if the slider lever is operated and the front seat is reinstalled with the left/right slide positions deviated, the adjuster unit could be damaged. After removing a front seat, do not operate the slider lever.

•  Verify that there are no malfunctions in the forward/back slide of the seat and in the adjuster unit after installing a front seat.

•  When performing the procedure with a front seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure on a clean cloth so as not to damage or soil the seat.

Front Door Side

Vehicles with power seat system/vehicles with position memory system

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the clips from the front seat cushion frame.

3.  Pull up the front seat side cover in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and unhook it.

4.  Using the remover tool, detach tabs A and B, and the pin.

5.  Pull the front seat side cover in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure and unhook it from hooks A.

6.  Pull the front seat side cover in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure and unhook it from hook B.

7.  Disconnect the power seat switch connector (with power seat) and the position memory switch connector (with position memory).

8.  Detach hooks A and B from the wiring harness and remove the front seat side cover in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure.

9.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Vehicles without power seat system/without position memory system

Caution

•  The seat back folds forward when the recliner knob is operated in the upward direction. Be careful when operating the recliner knob.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Move the remover tool in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and detach the tab.

3.  Move the remover tool in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and detach the tab.

4.  Remove the recliner lever knob in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure.

5.  Apply protective tape to the position shown in the figure. (Driver-side front seat side cover)

6.  Using a plastic hammer, tap a wood slab in several passes in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and remove the lifter lever knob. (Driver-side front seat side cover)

7.  Remove the cover. (Driver-side front seat side cover)

8.  Remove the clips from the front seat cushion frame.

9.  Pull up the front seat side cover in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and unhook it.

10.  Using the remover tool, detach tabs A and B, and the pin.

11.  Pull the front seat side cover in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure and unhook it from hooks A.

12.  Pull the front seat side cover in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure and unhook it from hook B.

13.  Remove the front seat side cover.

14.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Rear Console Side

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the front seat. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the screw.

4.  Pull up the front seat side cover in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and unhook it.

5.  Using the remover tool, detach tabs A and B, and the pin.

6.  Pull the front seat side cover in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure and unhook it from hooks A.

7.  Pull the front seat side cover in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure and unhook it from hook B.

8.  Remove the front seat side cover.

9.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
