SEAT POSITION INITIAL LEARNING

Caution
•  When performing the seat position initial learning, do not place any objects on, around, and under the second-row seat.
Note
•  Some rear power seat functions do not operate until the seat position initial learning is completed.
•  If the negative battery terminal is connected while the seat position initial learning is not completed, a warning buzzer sounds continuously.
•  If the DTC is not displayed even though the seat position initial learning is not completed normally, verify the following and perform the seat position initial learning again.
―  Verify that there is no foreign matter (such as metal fragments) adhering around the seat position sensor.
―  Inspect the seat position sensor. (See SEAT POSITION SENSOR INSPECTION.)

1.  Connect the negative battery terminal.

2.  Move the front seat to a position where the second-row seat does not interfere with the front seat when operating the walk-in function of the second-row seat.

3.  Move the seat back of the second-row seat to its upright position.

4.  Clear the rear power seat control module DTCs using the M-MDS.(See CLEARING DTC [REAR POWER SEAT CONTROL MODULE (LH)].) (See CLEARING DTC [REAR POWER SEAT CONTROL MODULE (RH)].)

5.  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).

6.  Open the rear door on the side the seat position initial learning is performed.

7.  Move the second-row seat to the furthest position rearward.

•  When performing the seat position initial learning again after repairing the malfunctioning location, move the second-row seat to the furthest position rearward using the following procedure.
(1)  Press and hold the walk-in switch (rear seat cushion-side) and start the power walk-in operation control.
(2)  Press and hold the walk-in switch (rear seat back-side) and start the power walk-in return control.
(3)  Move the seat back of the second-row seat to its upright position.
(4)  Move the second-row seat to the furthest position rearward.

8.  Press and hold the walk-in switch (rear seat cushion-side) and start the power walk-in operation control.

9.  Verify that the buzzer is activated and the operation is completed.

10.  Verify that the second-row seat has stopped at the walk-in position.

11.  Switch the ignition OFF.

12.  Press and hold the walk-in switch (rear seat back-side) and start the power walk-in return control.

13.  Verify that the buzzer is activated and the operation is completed.

14.  Move the seat back of the second-row seat to its upright position.

15.  Clear the rear power seat control module DTCs using the M-MDS.(See CLEARING DTC [REAR POWER SEAT CONTROL MODULE (LH)].) (See CLEARING DTC [REAR POWER SEAT CONTROL MODULE (RH)].)

•  If a DTC is displayed, repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting and perform the seat position initial learning again.

16.  Press the rear power seat switch and verify that the second-row seat can slide rearward and forward, and recline and fold down.

17.  Clear the rear power seat control module DTCs using the M-MDS.(See CLEARING DTC [REAR POWER SEAT CONTROL MODULE (LH)].) (See CLEARING DTC [REAR POWER SEAT CONTROL MODULE (RH)].)

•  If a DTC is displayed, repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting and perform the seat position initial learning again.
