Description

Error signal from PCM

Detection condition
•  Instrument cluster receives the invalid vehicle speed from the PCM under the following conditions:
―  Passed 20 s after turn the ignition switch to the ON position
―  Odometer is normal and more than 30 km {19 mile}.
―  Battery voltage is more than 10 V.
―  Received invalid data from the PCM for 0.5 s.
Possible cause
•  PCM DTC is stored.
•  PCM malfunction
•  Instrument cluster malfunction

VERIFY PCM DTCs
•  Retrieve the PCM DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.

PERFORM DTC INSPECTION AND VERIFY PCM MALFUNCTION
•  Clear the DTC for the instrument cluster using the M-MDS.
•  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and wait for 20 s or more.
•  Retrieve the instrument cluster DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Replace the PCM, then go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 4.

VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
•  Clear the DTC for the instrument cluster using the M-MDS.
•  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and wait for 20 s or more.
•  Retrieve the instrument cluster DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the instrument cluster.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
