System does not operate

DESCRIPTION
Buzzer does not sound and indicator light does not illuminate after ignition is switched ON.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
•  Parking sensor control module power supply related malfunction
―  Short to ground in the wiring harness between BCM terminals 7B and parking sensor switch terminal 1K (without parking sensor switch)
―  BCM malfunction (without parking sensor switch)
―  Short to ground in the wiring harness between ignition switch terminals C and parking sensor switch terminal F (with parking sensor switch)
―  Parking sensor switch malfunction (with parking sensor switch)
―  Short to ground in the wiring harness between parking sensor switch terminals H and parking sensor control module terminal 1K (with parking sensor switch)
•  Ground related malfunction in parking sensor control module
―  Short circuit between parking sensor control module terminal 1L and body ground
―  Ground point lifting, looseness
•  R position signal malfunction
―  Open or short circuit in wiring harness between transaxle range (TR) switch and parking sensor control module
―  Open or short circuit in wiring harness between transaxle range (TR) switch and BCM
―  Open or short circuit in wiring harness between transaxle range (TR) switch and back-up light
―  Transaxle range (TR) switch malfunction
•  Parking sensor control module malfunction

Diagnostic procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
VERIFY MALFUNCTION SYMPTOM
•  Set up the vehicle according to the following conditions:
―  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
―  R position
―  Parking sensor switch ON (indicator on) (with parking sensor switch)
•  Do the parking sensor buzzer for the emit sound?
Yes
Activate the parking sensor buzzer:
•  System is normal
No
Go to the next step.
2
VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY WIRING HARNESS
•  Verify the condition of the METER (10 A) fuse.
•  Is the fuse normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
•  Inspect and repair for the following short circuits:
―  Between ignition switch terminals C and parking sensor switch terminal 1K (with parking sensor switch)
―  Between ignition switch terminals C and BCM terminal 4A (without parking sensor switch)
―  Between METER (10 A) and each part receiving power supply
•  After repair, replace the fuse.
3
INSPECT IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS OPEN CIRCUIT TO POWER SUPPLY RELATED WIRING HARNESS
•  Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
•  Disconnect the parking sensor control module connector.
•  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
•  Parking sensor switch ON (indicator on). (with parking sensor switch)
•  Measure the voltage of connector terminal 1K on the parking sensor control module vehicle wiring harness side.
•  Is the voltage B+?
Yes
Go to the step 6.
No
With parking sensor switch
•  Go to the next step.
Without parking sensor switch
•  Go to the step 5.
4
INSPECT PARKING SENSOR SWITCH
•  Inspect the parking sensor switch.
•  Is the parking sensor switch normal?
Yes
Inspect and repair for the following short circuits:
•  Between parking sensor switch terminal H and parking sensor control module terminal 1K.
No
Replace the parking sensor switch.
5
INSPECT BCM
•  Inspect the BCM.
•  Is the BCM normal?
Yes
Inspect and repair for the following short circuits:
•  Between BCM terminal 7B and parking sensor control module terminal 1K.
No
Replace the BCM.
6
VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS R POSITION SIGNAL
•  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
•  Measure the voltage of parking sensor control module terminal 1F.
•  Is the voltage normal?
Yes
Replace the parking sensor control module.
No
Go to the next step.
7
INSPECT TRANSAXLE RANGE (TR) SWITCH
•  Inspect the transaxle range (TR) switch.
•  Is the transaxle range (TR) switch normal?
Yes
Inspect and repair for open or short circuit at followings:
•  Between transaxle range (TR) switch and parking sensor control module terminal 1F.
•  Between transaxle range (TR) switch and BCM.
•  Between transaxle range (TR) switch and back-up light.
If the wiring harnesses are normal, replace the parking sensor control module.
No
Replace the transaxle range (TR) switch.
