Warning

•  Handling a seat equipped with a side air bag improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions in the Workshop Manual before handling a seat (side air bag integrated). (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM (E)].) (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM (E)].)

•  If the sliding mechanisms on both sides are not locked after assembling the front seat, the front seat may operate accidentally while the vehicle is driven, which could result in serious injury. After assembling the front seat, try moving it back and forth to verify that the sliding mechanisms on both sides are locked. (With manual seat)

Caution

•  When removing the front seat, remove it with its seat back locked.

•  After the front seat has been removed, if the slider lever is operated and the front seat is reinstalled with the left/right slide positions deviated, the adjuster unit could be damaged. After removing a front seat, do not operate the slider lever. (With manual seat)

•  When performing the procedure with a front seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure on a clean cloth so as not to damage or soil the seat.

Front Door Side

With power seat system

1.  Switch the main power OFF.

2.  Disconnect the negative lead-acid battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE LEAD-ACID BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3.  Pull the power seat switch knobs in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and remove them while detaching the tabs.

4.  Move the front side of the front seat side cover in the direction of the arrow and disengage tab A.

5.  Remove the wiring harness clips from the front seat side frame.

6.  Detach the wiring harness from the wiring harness hooks and remove the wiring harness clip from the front seat side cover.

7.  Remove the connector from the power seat switch.

8.  Use the remover tool to disengage tab B and tab C shown in the figure.

9.  Move the rear side of the front seat side cover in the direction of the arrow to disengage the hook, then remove the front seat side cover.

10.  Remove the power seat switch. (See POWER SEAT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

11.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Without power seat system

1.  Insert the fastener remover from underneath the front seat side cover into the position shown in the figure and move it in the direction of the arrow to disengage the clip from the tilt dial. (Driver's seat)

2.  Remove the tilt dial in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure. (Driver's seat)

Note

•  The clip is a small part. Be careful not to lose it.

3.  Operate the lifter lever to lower the front seat.

4.  Pull up the lifter lever to the topmost position and pull the tab shown in the figure in the direction of arrow (1).

5.  Remove the lifter lever handle in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure.

6.  Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver to the position shown in the figure, move it in the direction of arrow (1), and then remove the recliner lever knob cover in the direction of arrow (2).

7.  Insert the fastener remover from underneath the front seat side cover into the position shown in the figure and move it in the direction of the arrow to disengage the clip from the recliner lever.

8.  Remove the recliner lever knob in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure.

9.  Move the front side of the front seat side cover in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and disengage tab A.

10.  Use the remover tool to disengage tab B and tab C shown in the figure.

11.  Move the rear side of the front seat side cover in the direction of (1) shown in the figure and disengage the guide.

12.  Move the rear side of the front seat side cover in the direction of (2) shown in the figure to disengage the hook, then remove the front seat side cover.

13.  Install in the reverse order of removal. (See Front Seat Side Cover Installation Note.)

Note

•  When installing the front seat side cover, wrap tape around the lifter lever to prevent scratches.

Front Seat Side Cover Removal Note

•  While raising the front seat side cover enough that the lower part of the walk in strap comes off the shaft, slide the lower part of the walk in strap in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, and then remove the walk in strap from the shaft.

Front Seat Side Cover Installation Note

•  After installing the lower part of the walk in strap to the shaft, slide it through the hole of the front seat side cover.

Center Console Side

1.  Remove the front seat belt lower anchor. (See FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2.  Remove the driver's seat installation bolts. (With power seat) (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

3.  Switch the main power OFF.

4.  Disconnect the negative lead-acid battery terminal and wait for 1 minute. (See NEGATIVE LEAD-ACID BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

5.  Remove the front seat. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

6.  Remove the screw from the front seat side cover, and move the front side of the front seat side cover in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure to disengage tab A.

7.  Use the remover tool to disengage tab B and tab C shown in the figure.

8.  Move the rear side of the front seat side cover in the direction of (1) shown in the figure and disengage the guide.

9.  Move the rear side of the front seat side cover in the direction of (2) shown in the figure to disengage the hook, then remove the front seat side cover.

10.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
