FRONT DOOR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1.  Disconnect the negative lead-acid battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE LEAD-ACID BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Inner garnish (See INNER GARNISH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2)  Power window main switch (to remove from driver’s side) (See POWER WINDOW MAIN SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3)  Power window subswitch (to remove from passenger’s side) (See POWER WINDOW SUBSWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  To prevent scratches or damage, apply protective tape to the positions shown in the figure.

Note

•  If work using protective tape is performed in an area where the temperature can increase drastically or the protective tape is left applied for a long period of time, tape adhesive could remain on the protective tape attachment part when the protective tape is peeled off. When applying protective tape, avoid areas where the temperature of the tape can increase drastically and peel off the protective tape soon after the work is completed.

4.  Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the position shown in the figure, move it in the direction of the arrow, and then remove the inner handle cover while detaching the tabs.

5.  Using the remover tool, detach the hooks from the front door trim one by one from the bottom of the grip cover.

6.  Remove the grip cover.

7.  Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the position shown in the figure, move it in the direction of the arrow, and then remove the hole cover.

8.  Remove the screws.

9.  Hold each shaded area shown in the figure, pull the front door trim in the order of arrows (1) to (4), and detach the clips and pin.

10.  Lift up the front door trim in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure being careful not to open the lower end of the front door trim excessively, and remove the front door trim from the clip.

11.  Remove the front door trim.

12.  Disconnect the door lock switch connector. (driver-side only)

13.  While pressing the clip tabs in the directions of arrows (1) shown in the figure, pull the clip in the direction of arrow (2), and then detach the clip from the front door panel.

14.  Install the removed clip to the front door trim.

15.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

•  When replacing front door trim, remove the following parts:

•  Front door speaker grille (See SPEAKER GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
