WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1.  Open the hood.

2.  Disconnect windshield washer hose C and windshield washer hose D. (See WINDSHIELD WASHER HOSE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Caution
•  If excessive force is applied when removing the caps, the tabs could break. Carefully remove the caps.

3.  Carefully pull the cap up in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure while slightly shaking it, and detach the cap from the windshield wiper arm.

4.  Move the cap in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure and remove the cap from the windshield wiper arm.

Caution
•  If the windshield wiper arm is pulled up with the nut completely removed, the windshield wiper arm could contact the hood when it is removed. Always pull up the windshield wiper arm with the nut not completely removed.

5.  While pressing the windshield wiper arm, loosen the nut without completely removing it.

6.  Pull the windshield wiper arm up to the loosened nut.

7.  Remove the nut.

8.  Remove the windshield wiper arm. (See Windshield Wiper Arm Installation Note.)

9.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

10.  When replacing the driver’s windshield wiper arm and blade, perform the windshield wiper arm and blade initial setting. (See WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE INITIAL SETTING.)


Windshield Wiper Arm Installation Note

1.  Clean the serrated connecting part using a wire brush.

•  If the serrated connecting part is damaged, replace the windshield wiper motor and link. (See WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2.  Align the windshield wiper blade end with the hollowed mark in the ceramic coating and install.

•  If the hollowed marks in the ceramic coating cannot be located, adjust the windshield wiper blade end to the range shown in the figure and install.

3.  Install the nut.

4.  Switch the main power ON (READY off or on).

5.  Operate the windshield wipers at low speed.

6.  Switch the windshield wiper to OFF.

7.  Verify that the windshield wipers are stopped at the park position by the auto-stop function.

•  If the windshield wiper is not stopped at the park position, change the windshield wiper arm and serrated connecting part one groove at a time and adjust it to the park position.
