Outline

Malfunction symptom

Charging timer or remote charging does not start

Description
•  Charging does not start/finish at the time set on the charging timer.
•  Charging does not start/finish even if remote charging is performed using the Connected Service.
Possible cause
Charging timer start conditions are not met:
•  Charging timer is not set
―  Charging timer not set
―  Body control module (BCM) related DTCs detected
―  Connectivity master unit (CMU) related DTCs detected
Remote charging start conditions are not met:
•  Remote charging is not set
―  Body control module (BCM) related DTCs detected
―  Connectivity master unit (CMU) related DTCs detected
―  Emergency call unit related DTCs detected
Normal charging start conditions are not met:
•  EV system malfunction
―  PCM related DTCs detected
―  BECM related DTCs detected
―  Battery charge control module related DTCs detected
Charging timer is set to full charge:
•  Charging timer is operated using full-charge priority function (to fully charge at set finish time)
―  If the high voltage battery level is high, a malfunction symptom occurs easily.
Vehicle cannot receive a signal for remote charging setting from information center:
•  Vehicle was placed where radio waves cannot be received while setting remote charging.
•  Emergency call unit malfunction
―  Emergency call unit related DTCs detected
Signal for remote charging setting cannot be sent to information center from smartphone:
•  Smartphone was placed where radio waves cannot be received while setting remote charging.

Diagnostic Procedure

Step

Inspection

Results

Action

1
VERIFY DTCs
•  Perform the DTC inspections for the following modules.
―  PCM
―  BECM
―  Battery charge control module
―  Body control module (BCM)
―  Emergency call unit
―  Connectivity master unit (CMU)
•  Is a DTC displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
(Refer to the [DTC TABLE [CONNECTIVITY MASTER UNIT]] in the workshop manual)
No
Go to the next step.
2
VERIFY CHARGING TIMER AND REMOTE CHARGING SETTING
•  Refer to the owner’s manual and verify the charging timer and the remote charging setting status.
•  Is the customer’s desired charge status (charging timer, remote charging)?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step. (After malfunction diagnosis is completed, explain to the customer about charging timer and remote charging settings)
3
VERIFY CHARGING TIMER SETTING CONTENT
•  Refer to the owner’s manual and verify the charging timer setting content.
•  Is the charging timer finish condition set to full charge?
Yes
Go to the next step. (After malfunction diagnosis is completed, explain to the customer about the following.)
•  When the charging timer finish condition is set to full charge, the charging starts so that a full charge is obtained at the set finish time (full-charge priority function), therefore charging may not start even after the set charging start time has elapsed.
No
Go to the next step.
4
VERIFY NORMAL CHARGE OPERATION CONDITION
•  Cancel the charging timer and remote charging setting.
•  Perform normal charging.
•  Is normal charging operated?
Yes
Explain to the customer that the following may have occurred.
•  If charging timer does not start:
―  When the charging timer finish condition is set to full charge, the charging starts so that a full charge is obtained at the set finish time (full-charge priority function), therefore charging may not start even after the set charging start time has elapsed.
•  If remote charging does not start:
―  Vehicle was placed where radio waves cannot be received while setting remote charging
―  Smartphone was placed where radio waves cannot be received while setting remote charging
No
Perform troubleshooting according to [NORMAL CHARGING DOES NOT STARTED].
Repair completion verification
VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED
•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
•  Has the malfunction symptom been eliminated?
Yes
Complete the symptom troubleshooting. (Explain contents of repair to customer.)
No
Refer to the CAN (controller area network) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
